Enjoying the Benefits of an Outdoor Fireplace Versus a Fire Pit

The modern outdoor fireplace enables you to enjoy all the benefits of an outdoor fire without all the smoke and embers that can fly around in the air.

With an outdoor fireplace, the fire is more controlled, and can be extinguished quickly if necessary. The following paragraphs will discuss the benefits of owning an outdoor fireplace as opposed to an outdoor fire pit.

The most common outdoor fireplaces currently on the market have multi openings, for proper air ventilation, as well as having a mesh style wrapped around, to help prevent hot embers from escaping and possible fires. Outdoor fireplaces most often have a chimney or flu, which can bring air into the fire, as well as direct smoke from the fire upward, and away from you and your guests. Outdoor fireplaces can be made from materials including:

* aluminum
* stainless steel
* tempered glass
* cast iron

Outdoor fireplaces are also available in a wide variety of colors to match any patio furniture or any back yard theme.

There are many benefits associated with having an outdoor fireplace as opposed to having a fire pit. While fire pits have a tendency to be difficult to get lit, an outdoor fireplace can be lit with as much ease as an indoor fireplace. When burning a fire pit, there is always the danger of wind gusts taking hot embers to areas that are prone to fire such as:

* dry grass
* decks
* lawn furniture

When you are burning an outdoor fireplace, the fire is contained. You will not have to worry about any fire hazards as you would with a fire pit.

Besides being less of a fire hazard, there are other benefits of outdoor fireplaces over fire pits. Maintenance is simple, as all an outdoor fireplace needs in order to maintain it’s beauty and function is simple cleaning and occasional painting. A fire pit needs to be replaced often.

The benefits of an outdoor fireplace far surpass those of a fire pit. By purchasing an outdoor fireplace, you can still enjoy all the benefits of an outdoor fire with less worry.

What’s New In Design – Part 2

Each year the hot new designs of outdoor fireplaces just make it harder to not buy a new one every year – they just keep getting better and better.

Beauty and elegance are definitely part of the new designs, too. Here are a few of the new things coming out in the market.

Stainless steel is definitely being used more and more – especially in the chimineas, and the fire pits. This little rust-free feature on your outdoor fireplaces will certainly enable you to keep it very clean, and nice looking – all year round. It has been a common feature of gas grills and outdoor kitchens, but finally it has moved into these realms, as well.

Can you believe it – they have finally mixed fire and water together? Two models, at least, have combined fire with cascading water. The water cascades over a wall behind the flame (one model – in front), which is basically a fire pit. The flame is gas-powered. Other models have jets of water squirting toward the fire.

Other developments include more great-looking models of the granite tabletop fire pits. Increased elegance in these make it a beautiful addition to any patio. Ceramic tiles on the base of some of them make them sturdy, solid, and very decorative. Other models have legs of iron, copper, or aluminum. Gas-fired, they have the convenience of keeping clean and yet providing a good flame for cooking, or heat and beauty.

Another company is now putting out its Ice crystals for fireplaces. These are glass crystals of different colors through which the gas flows, adding a touch of real class. The firelight reflects off of the glass crystals giving it an awesome look. These can be used in many gas fired outdoor fireplaces such as the tabletop versions – or indoor.

You certainly will want to do a little searching on the Internet in order to find the right model of outdoor fireplaces with the latest features. This way you can find out if they have the perfect model for you, or, who knows, some new models may have just the options you are looking for.

What’s New In Outdoor Fireplace Design?

In recent years, outdoor fireplaces have really become the thing to have. Because of this sudden interest in them, there has been and continues to be improvements and new developments in outdoor fireplaces.

This means that there are designs for everyone – possibly even having some of the features that you thought you would never see. It would certainly be worth taking a close look at what is taking place – so that you can get your new fireplace – before someone else does. Here are some of the more recent developments.

One of the latest developments is the Granite topped table – round, with a fire pit in the middle. The tabletop comes mostly in two different styles – on a metal base of iron or copper, or on a stone-washed tile base that matches the color of the table top. Quite a number of different models are available, and there are surely some that will match your patio. Some versions are low – and the granite top is more for sitting around the fire, than a table. The styling is beautiful and would make a great elegant addition to any yard. Some of these come with round matching stools for sitting on, too – making the set complete. Some of them come with a lid.

Another great feature is a larger outdoor fireplace that has multiple features. Although it is tall, with a chimney, it can serve as a fireplace, or a grill, or a smoker – giving you the flexibility of whatever you want to do.

Chimenia’s are constantly coming out in new designs, and they seem to be coming down in price a little, too. While the clay version is only for small fires, newer models are on the market that are made of copper, iron, and aluminum. These outdoor fireplaces certainly have a much higher ability to provide the necessary heat for cooking, and the ability to handle flame and endure longer.

The fire pit version of the outdoor fireplaces, too, is also coming out in new styles and models. Probably one of the best features of a smaller fire pit is that you can take it with you when you go camping, to the beach, or just about anywhere.
